GM’s Counterattack Labels VW ‘Quasi-Psychotic’: In rejecting accusations made by Volkswagen Chairman Ferdinand Piech that it was carrying out a war to ruin the German auto maker, General Motors’ German unit said its opponent had a “quasi-psychotic bunker-like mentality.” GM’s Adam Opel division also denied that it was conducting a revenge campaign against VW production chief Jose Ignacio Lopez de Arriortua, who left GM in March. In Hamburg, the public prosecutor’s office said it was investigating allegations against Lopez, accused of taking confidential GM papers to VW, for allegedly giving false information in a sworn affidavit. Meanwhile, VW indicated that it wants to defuse the conflict.
