Little Change in Arts Groups’ CAC Rankings
Orange County arts organizations have fared about the same this year as last with the California Arts Council, whose advisory panels have given them rankings that differ little from last year’s.
The collapsed GroveShakespeare troupe, ranked at 2+ on a 1-4 scale, is the only county group that won a CAC grant last year but is unlikely to receive one when the CAC approves panel recommendations and determines grant amounts Sept. 9-10 in Sacramento. Typically, only groups ranked 3- and above get grants.
Other organizations that applied for CAC grants and their rankings are:
Multicultural Arts Council of Orange County, 3; Ballet Unlimited, 2; St. Joseph Ballet, 3+; Master Chorale of Orange County, 3-; Opera Pacific, 4-; Orange County Symphony of Garden Grove, 2; Pacific Symphony, 3+; Pacific Chorale, 4-; Fullerton Civic Light Opera, 3-; Laguna Playhouse, 3-; South Coast Repertory, 4-; Laguna Art Museum, 3+.
Rankings are expected later this summer for Laguna Poets, the Orange County Philharmonic Society and the Richard Henry Dana Institute for the Arts, formerly called the Arrowhead Institute, which has been sponsoring outdoor concerts in Dana Point.
