At Least 53 Die as Turkish Forces Attack Rebel Kurds

ANKARA, Turkey — At least 50 Kurdish rebels and three Turkish soldiers were reported killed Sunday in government attacks on guerrilla mountain hide-outs in eastern and southeastern Turkey.
Security forces have staged large-scale, search-and-destroy operations against the Kurdish Workers Party since rebels shot and killed 33 soldiers and two civilians last Monday.
