New Image Says Income Tripled in 3rd Quarter
New Image Industries Inc., a fast-growing maker of dental-imaging systems, said its net income tripled in the third quarter ended March 31, to $1.9 million from $600,000 a year earlier. Revenue doubled to $9 million.
The Canoga Park-based company attributed the gains primarily to continuing strong growth in demand for its dental-imaging systems. The systems permit dentists to show patients “before” and “after” pictures of proposed treatments. New Image said it acquired a U.S. manufacturing facility for the systems during the quarter, which also boosted profits. For the nine months, New Image posted more than a 30-fold increase in net income, to $4.2 million from $138,000 a year ago. Revenue more than doubled, to $22.5 million from $10.5 million a year ago.
Results for the quarter and nine months included the operations of New Image’s majority-owned Styles-on-Video unit, which makes imaging systems for hairdressers. The unit was spun off to shareholders March 29.
