Animator Lantz Offers Student Funds
Animator Walter Lantz, creator of “Woody Woodpecker” and other cartoons, has developed through his foundation two special funds for CalArts students: a scholarship and a prize.
The first will be awarded to a student each year in the character animation program. It will be awarded for the first time this fall. The second is a grant given near the end of each school year to enable a student to complete an animation project in full color.
Lantz will present the 1993 award May 4 at 2 p.m. at the Character Animation Producer’s Show in CalArts’ Bijou Theater.
