Young Patient Gets Passport Back
A passport allegedly stolen from a Ukrainian girl, who was seeing a Los Angeles doctor for Chernobyl-related cancer, has been recovered, sheriff’s deputies said Tuesday.
Tatiana Bilyk, 15, and her companion were unpacking in a room at the Country Inn in Calabasas on Monday when the missing passport fell from a notebook, said Deputy Rich Erickson of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The pair had moved to the inn after their luggage was stolen from a room in the Good Night Inn in Calabasas on Friday.
The girls had checked the notebook--which they used only to keep score while playing board games--after the theft, but found no passport, Erickson said. Deputies believe someone may have slipped into the hotel room at the Good Night Inn and dropped the passport into the notebook.
Deputies said that clothing and shoes stolen from the girl, who is suffering from thyroid cancer, have not been recovered.
