OUTLOOK
The Eagles made a quantum leap last season, from 2-17-1 to 15-7. They jumped from last in the Angelus League to third. Now they are on the move again, to the Sea View League, where they expect to have another good season. Lefebvre has a good mixture of youth and experience. He also has some hitters in Sees (.460), Balicki (.338), Rumph (.333) and Balo (.303). Sees also stole 16 bases. That group should produce plenty of runs. Whether they can produce enough is the question. “It all starts on the mound,” Lefebvre said. Balicki is the only pitcher with experience. He was 2-1 with a 2.09 earned-run average. A lot of pressure will be on Henstridge and Maskrey, who will be asked to contribute a lot. Of course, unheralded James McGrath went 7-2 last season and Lefebvre expects one of his new pitchers to match that. “I think our pitchers will be better this year,” Lefebvre said. He will also be depending on three sophomores who don’t even have junior varsity experience. All were on the freshman team last season. “We have some pretty good experienced players to help them,” Lefebvre said. “I expect us to be better than we were last year.”
