Paying for Lifeguards
Port Hueneme lifeguards are a necessity. But the city of Port Hueneme is eliminating the funding because of budget cuts.
The newest proposal calls for the lifeguards be paid by raising rates for residents in an existing beach maintenance assessment district. I’m already paying for a view I don’t have.
I won’t mind paying for lifeguard service, but in return I want the Port Hueneme Beach to be a private beach for the existing beach maintenance assessment district. I want fencing to keep out those not being assessed and at the same time I want my own key. I’ll even go help keep the beach clean as long as it’s private.
If we’re the only ones to be taxed for a lifeguard service then we should be the only ones who are allowed to use it.
