Jack Davis has resigned after 14 years as Oxnard High football coach.

Davis, 60, cited personal reasons for his decision.

He said his wife had been injured in an automobile accident during the past year and needed more of his attention. He added the strain of coaching had become too great.

“I almost didn’t coach (last) season,” Davis said. “I just felt it was time.”

Davis said he will continue teaching at Oxnard. “We haven’t decided yet whether I want to go ahead and retire.”

Davis compiled a career record of 90-56-3. Last season, Oxnard was 5-5, 2-5 in Channel League play.
