Cypress Hands El Dorado Girls Their First Loss
PLACENTIA — El Dorado, the sixth-ranked team in Orange County, lost for the first time this season when Cypress beat the Golden Hawks, 53-48, in the Empire League girls’ basketball opener for both teams Thursday at El Dorado.
Jessica Eggleston scored 30 points and Julie Adams had 17 for Cypress (9-4, 1-0 in league), which had only four players score.
Eggleston had 17 of her 30 points in the first half as Cypress opened a 29-12 lead.
El Dorado (13-1, 0-1) rallied in the fourth quarter, outscoring Cypress, 24-14, but it wasn’t enough. Nicole DeBruijn scored 20 points for El Dorado.
