Santa Monica : Change in College Cable TV

Starting Friday, the Santa Monica College cable television station will offer programming from Mind Extension University, allowing viewers to earn college degrees and providing other educational opportunities.

Channel 30 at the college currently offers programs from the Learning Channel, which include documentaries and how-to shows.

“The reason for the change is that Santa Monica College believes that Mind Extension University is more closely aligned with its primary mission--higher education,” said Doug Wicks, media services supervisor at the community college.

Channel 30 reaches 18,000 households in Santa Monica.

Wicks said the channel will continue to telecast some college-produced programs.
