Glendale : Redevelopment Strip OKd
The City Council in a 4-0 vote Tuesday adopted an ordinance forming a 750-acre redevelopment zone along a north-south industrial corridor of San Fernando Road between the boundaries of Burbank and Los Angeles.
The ordinance will go into effect in 30 days, but opponents have 60 days to challenge the action in court.
The ordinance will allow the city over the next 35 years to collect an estimated $712 million in property tax revenues that can be used to make public improvements to roads and utilities, expand businesses and create jobs.
