COLLEGE ROUNDUP : UC Irvine Women’s Volleyball Team Comes From Behind to Win
Scotleen Risley had 15 kills and four blocks to lead UC Irvine to a 13-15, 6-15, 15-12, 15-7, 15-13 victory over San Jose State in a Big West Conference women’s volleyball match at Irvine Friday.
Popi Edwards had 10 kills for Irvine, which improved to 12-10, 5-8 in conference. Erin Ginney had 17 kills to lead San Jose State (9-13, 5-6).
In the Cal State Northridge Invitational volleyball tournament:
CS Northridge 3, CS Fullerton 0--Missy Clements had 12 kills to lead Cal State Northridge (20-7) to a 15-13, 15-5, 15-13 victory. Kristin Sharples and Lisa Parbst led the Titans (0-20) with 10 kills each. Fullerton also lost to Cal Poly Pomona, 15-5, 15-5, 15-13, in a match earlier in the tournament. Pomona is 17-6.
In the Golden State Athletic Conference:
Southern California College 3, California Baptist 2--Jayna Auer had 18 kills and Leslie Lastrapes had 17 for visiting SCC, which won, 4-15, 15-6, 15-13, 13-15, 16-4.
SCC is 6-15, 2-7.
In nonconference women’s soccer:
UC Irvine wins scrimmage--Lori Muzzonigro scored a goal as UC Irvine beat Northern Colorado, 1-0. The match will not count officially because there were no field officials at the match.
