OXNARD : Identity of Train Victim Is Released
The county coroner’s office Friday released the identity of an Oxnard man killed by a passing train on Oxnard Boulevard just north of 1st Street.
The body of Jess Salazar, 56, was discovered by two children about 8:30 p.m. Thursday after he was hit by a train whose engineers apparently did not realize the train had struck the man. The body was also observed on the tracks by an Amtrak passenger train rolling through the area at 8:20 p.m.
Deputy Coroner Craig Stevens said Salazar’s death was ruled accidental. An autopsy conducted Friday found his death was caused by multiple traumatic injuries, Stevens said.
