O’Connor’s Defense: The Sinead O’Connor story continues tonight when the Irish singer’s exclusive interview with “Entertainment Tonight” airs on KNBC Channel 4. In an interview backstage at the Madison Square Garden Bob Dylan tribute before she was booed on stage, O’Connor told “ET” that she tore up the photo of Pope John Paul II on “Saturday Night Live” to start a dialogue about the issue of child abuse: “If I hadn’t done that, we wouldn’t be sitting here now clarifying all these things.” O’Connor, herself a victim of child abuse, explained, “The church created what happened to me.”. . .For those who missed O’Connor being booed during the pay-per-view concert, the telecast will be repeated on some cable carriers tonight at 6, with future repeats to be announced. Also, the Dylan telecast’s producers are planning a live European broadcast of O’Connor performing with a full orchestra in Geneva next month with a taped version for U.S. broadcast at a later time.
