Buick Motor Division, whose engines have powered the fastest cars in Indianapolis Motor Speedway history, said it is withdrawing from IndyCar racing and will concentrate on the developmental Indy Lights series. Buick brought its stock block V-6 engines to the Speedway in 1984, won the pole position with driver Pancho Carter in 1985, had the fastest qualifier with Gary Bettenhausen in 1991 and took the pole with Roberto Guerrero this year.
