The Rams Tuesday waived linebacker Brian Townsend from their practice squad. . . . Anthony Newman, the starting free safety who is sharing time at the spot with Pat Terrell, already has a career-high of interceptions with three. He had two in 1988 and ’90. . . . Opponents have been inside the Rams’ 20-yard line 13 times this season and have scored 63 points on seven touchdowns and five field goals. The Rams have only three touchdowns and three field goals (30 points) to show for nine trips inside the 20. The other three times, they lost a fumble, had a pass intercepted and missed a field goal. . . . The Rams have 13 players on their active roster with fewer than two years’ experience and four more on injured reserve. . . . Since the 47-man NFL rosters were announced Aug. 31, the Rams have made 19 personnel moves and acquired seven players, six of whom are still on the team.
