NORTHRIDGE : Rockwell Donates Computers to CSUN

Rockwell International Corp. has announced it will donate $300,000 to provide 24 new workstations in computer-assisted design at the School of Engineering and Computer Science at Cal State Northridge.

The grant, payable in $100,000 installments over three years, will be used to enhance CSUN’s automation-engineering laboratory by providing new computers, software, maintenance and student lab assistants.

CSUN has been the primary source of recently hired technical professionals and a major source of new engineering and computer-science graduates for Rockwell’s Rocketdyne and other divisions. The school’s automation-engineering program enrolls more than 100 students annually.

“Because of our record of hiring CSUN engineers, this grant could be looked at as an investment in Rocketdyne’s future work force,” said Bob Paster, president of Rocketdyne. “These new workstations will teach students the skills that are crucial in today’s industry--skills that can be immediately applied to their professional careers.”

CSUN, which is building a new engineering and computer science facility, plans to name one of its new labs the Rockwell International Automation Engineering Laboratory.
