PREP NOTES : Loftus Quits as Coach of Cypress Basketball

Kevin Loftus has resigned as boys’ basketball coach at Cypress High School, Athletic Director John Selbe said Thursday.

Loftus quit for personal reasons, according to Selbe.

In five seasons, Loftus had a 50-75 record.

Dean Cazett, who coached the Savanna High girls’ basketball team to the Southern Section Division II-A quarterfinals last season, said Thursday he has resigned to take over the program at Foothill.

Cazett coached the Rebels only one season after being an assistant at Foothill for three years. Under him, Savanna finished 19-7 and second in the Orange League with a 7-3 record behind Brea-Olinda, the eventual State Division III champion.
