Man Is Stabbed 5 Times During Fight With Neighbor
BUENA PARK — An argument between two residents of an apartment building ended with one man seriously wounded and another jailed on a charge of attempted murder, Buena Park police reported Saturday.
Officer Bill Kohanek said a fight between the two men broke out in an apartment complex in the 8600 block of Commonwealth Avenue around 8 p.m. Friday. One of the men grabbed a large kitchen knife from his apartment and stabbed the other five times in the face and back, Kohanek said. The argument, according to Kohanek, was over the use of a telephone.
Police said the victim, Effrum Burnett, 21, was reported in guarded condition at UCI Medical Center.
Kohanek said Charles Gonzalez, 21, was arrested two hours after the incident while driving around his neighborhood. He was booked at the Orange County Jail on a charge of attempted murder.
