2 Women Slashed in Purse Snatchings
Two women, 67 and 68 years old, were slashed by a purse snatcher in separate incidents Sunday in Burbank, police said.
Mary Taylor Castillo, 67, and Denise Alice Kosgeryan, 68, were treated at St. Joseph Medical Center and released, a hospital spokeswoman said. No arrests had been made in the attacks, Burbank Police Sgt. Robert Kight said.
Castillo was walking near Alameda Avenue and Cordova Street about 11:15 a.m. when a man tried to grab her purse. When she struggled, he slashed her across the neck with a knife.
Fifteen minutes later, Kosgeryan was accosted by a man that police believe to be the same suspect as she walked near Myers Street and Olive Avenue. After Kosgeryan struggled for the purse, her assailant stabbed her several times and made off with a small amount of cash, Kight said.
