Expulsions Put Private Schools in a New Light
Anyone who believes that a school voucher program is a panacea to our educational needs should read Orange County Catholic Diocese attorney Lynne Browning’s comments over the expulsion of students due to their parents’ protests.
Heaven forbid parents’ having a voice in their children’s education. The only reason these schools work is that they eliminate anyone who doesn’t conform, whether it be limited achievement or becoming a “problem” or threat to the institution.
Allowing a voucher program would take limited funds out of public schools and place them into these private fiefdoms. Again, the rich will benefit due to their ability to buy the education they want and the rest will be left in the cold.
