Major Winery Ruling: A California court has ruled that the winemaking process constitutes a trade secret that cannot be divulged. The ruling stems from a case in which Kendall-Jackson Winery of Lakeport, Calif., accused its former winemaker, Jedediah T. Steele, of passing along the method for making a sweet Chardonnay to outside clients after leaving the winery.
