In his his review of John Langdon’s “Wordplay: Reflections on the Art of Ambigrams” (May 10), Fred Holley noted that when the cover of “Wordplay” is turned upside down, the title and the author’s name can be read either way.

While reading your review, and in my own independent style, I noticed that when A equals 1, B equals 2, C equals 3 (and so on to Z equals 26), the title Wordplay --or W (23), O (15), R (18), D (4), P (16), L (12), A (1) and Y (25)--adds up to the grand total of 114.

In turn, addition of the number equivalent of the letters of John Langdon also results in 114.
