Australia defeated the Dominican Republic, 124-49, to improve to 5-0 in Pool A of the women’s Olympic basketball qualifying tournament at Vigo, Spain.
In other games in Pool A, China defeated Poland, 75-64, to improve to 4-1, and Czechoslovakia also improved to 4-1 with a 74-45 win over Zaire. Brazil defeated Hungary, 102-80.
In Pool B, the Unified Team--formerly the Soviet Union--improved to 4-0 with an 85-50 victory over winless Mexico. South Korea defeated Japan, 90-85, and Italy beat Canada, 67-53.
