Ex-Clerk Charged in Court File Theft
WESTMINSTER — A former traffic-court clerk has been charged with stealing a court file for a friend named on outstanding arrest warrants.
Deborah Ann LaBriola, 24, of Westminster had been working part time at the Municipal Court in Westminster for 2 1/2 years when she was placed on administrative leave Dec. 11. She resigned a month later.
Court officials discovered late last year that LaBriola allegedly took the case file of Charles Clifford Chapman. The removal of court documents from the premise without permission is a felony.
On May 22, the district attorney’s office charged LaBriola and Chapman, 26, of Long Beach with removing and destroying the file sometime last year. Their arraignment is set for June 12.
