Irwindale : Air Quality Plan Funded
The City Council voted unanimously to allocate $7,300 for an air quality plan to meet a state law requiring cities to reduce their solid waste 25% by 1995 and 50% by the year 2000.
The so-called Air Quality Element will be prepared by the East San Gabriel Valley Integrated Waste Management Joint Powers Authority on behalf of Irwindale and 15 other member cities.
The authority will also assist member cities in making the cuts and meeting other requirements of the law such as public education and the annual monitoring and evaluation of each city’s wastes.
