Fountain Valley Hospital to Close: Charter Medical Corp. of Macon, Ga., announced that it will discontinue operations at Charter Hospital of Fountain Valley. All in-patient services had been suspended as of Friday. A spokesman said the closing had nothing to do with the parent company’s Chapter 11 restructuring, which was filed Tuesday, but was because of excess beds in the Southern California psychiatric hospital market.
