Good Neighbors: The Met Theater at 1089 N. Oxford Ave., adjacent to an area where many structures and businesses were devastated by fires or looting, will host a community rebuilding evening Saturday at 8. Music and celebrity readings of poetry and literature that reflect the ethnic diversity of Los Angeles will be presented, along with open discussion. Admission: donation of diapers, baby food and clothing, blankets, canned food or cash. . . . Singer Vikki Carr, who is performing Saturday night at the Greek Theater, is urging her audience to bring items to the concert that can be delivered on Mother’s Day to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. . . . And on Wednesday, director-choreographer Debbie Allen presented a personal check for $10,000 to Los Angeles city librarian Elizabeth Martinez Smith to kick off a campaign Allen will spearhead to help rebuild local libraries damaged during the riots.
