Two years ago, The Times editorialized that it was proper for the Lakers to not play their starting players in the season finale at Portland.
This season, the Clippers had already qualified for the playoffs before their final game with the Lakers. Where was the editorial that the Clipper starters should be benched?
Instead of the 109-108 overtime thriller, the Lakers could have waltzed into the playoffs and 17,505 fans wouldn’t have headed for the parking lot at the same time. Or are games meaningless only when played in Portland?
