NORTH HOLLYWOOD : Driver Killed After Car Runs Into Store
A motorist was killed Wednesday after his car sped through a red light and sailed through a North Hollywood storefront window, police said.
The victim, a 30-year-old Hollywood man whose name was withheld pending notification of relatives, was driving south on Universal Center Drive shortly after noon and failed to stop at a red light at the Cahuenga Boulevard intersection, Los Angeles Police Officer Roger Stewart said.
Witnesses reported that the man’s Cadillac was traveling up to 80 m.p.h.
The car narrowly missed a pedestrian, hit a dip, bounced off a curb, then crashed through the window of an architectural and art supply shop on the opposite side of the intersection before bursting into flames, Stewart said.
No one in the shop was injured, he said.
