All-Star Basketball Classic Features Top Area Seniors

Several of the area’s top seniors will play in the second annual South Bay All-Star boys’ basketball classic at 7:30 tonight at South Torrance High.

The Red team, coached by John Mihaljevich of Peninsula and Jack Kordich of San Pedro, features Frank White of Peninsula, Sean Washington of Banning, Jason Anthony of South Torrance, Jimmy Britt of Inglewood, Ted Silva of Redondo, Steve St. Charles of El Segundo and Chris Kresser of Mira Costa.

The Blue team, coached by LaMont Henry of South Torrance, Ed Azzam of Westchester and Cliff Warren of Redondo, features John Anthony of Peninsula, Rudy Washington of Carson, Joe Otos of Torrance, Marlon D’Oyen of Bishop Montgomery, David Cottey of Redondo, Tony Sabala of West Torrance and Kevin Pfau of South Torrance.

Players selected from Westchester, Serra and Morningside might play if their teams lost regional playoff games Thursday night. Those players are James Gray and Lorenzo Ball of Westchester, Dan Carpenter of Serra and Pauliasi Taulava of Morningside.

Jason Jassman of North Torrance cannot play because he is recovering from knee surgery.

Tonight’s program begins at 7 with a dunking exhibition and a three-point shootout.
