2 Men Badly Burned in Northridge Garage Fire
Two men were severely burned in a Northridge garage fire Thursday evening after a space heater ignited vapors from the gasoline they were using to clean automobile parts, fire officials said.
The men--one age 24 and the other in his early 30s--suffered first-, second- and third-degree burns to the face, hands and arms, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells said. Both were taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center, where one was in critical condition.
About 15 firefighters took slightly more than 20 minutes to douse the blaze, which broke out shortly after 8 p.m. in the 19200 block of West Napa Street, Wells said.
