From Staff and Wire Reports
Joe Greene, defensive line coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers, has been told by team president Dan Rooney that he has been trimmed from the list of candidates to succeed Chuck Noll as coach.
Greene, 45, was the only one of the four job finalists to lack experience as a coordinator. The other finalists are Dave Wannstedt, defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys; Bill Cowher, defensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs; and Kevin Gilbride, offensive coordinator of the Houston Oilers.
