HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL PLAYOFFS : Kristich Leads La Habra to 3-A Title
Zrinka Kristich had 39 kills as La Habra High won its third consecutive Southern Section 3-A title with a 15-4, 11-15, 15-8, 11-15, 15-11 victory over El Modena on Saturday at Cerritos College.
Kristich, a 6-foot-5 senior headed to UCLA on a basketball scholarship, had nine kills and two blocks in the final game for top-seeded La Habra (21-2).
In Division 4-A:
Marlborough 3, Marymount 0--Leigh Marston had 18 kills as top-seeded Marlborough (17-1) won its first title since 1982 with a 15-4, 15-11, 15-11 victory over unseeded Marymount (18-6).
In Division 2-A:
Arroyo Grande 3, Long Beach St. Anthony 2--Top-seeded Arroyo Grande (19-0) overcame a 9-1 deficit in the fourth game for a 14-16, 12-15, 15-11, 15-12, 15-2 victory.
In Division 1-A:
Los Angeles Baptist 3, Brentwood 0--Lucrieta Haynes and Kim Rehwald led fourth-seeded Los Angeles Baptist (19-2) to a 16-14, 15-4, 15-5 victory over second-seeded Brentwood (22-1).
In the Small Schools Division:
Carpinteria Cate 3, San Juan Capistrano St. Margaret’s 0--Second-seeded Cate won its first title, 15-5, 15-5, 15-8.
