Here’s a ‘Thank You’ From Highland Park

For many years I have felt like writing to express my frustration at the manner in which the Glendale section of The Times has usually portrayed Highland Park--gang-ridden, shoddy, worn-out and, even, quite dangerous.

But with this week’s section (Times, Sept. 12), I notice a major difference. You give such a positive tone to your news items and to your calendar events that it makes me feel glad that maybe others are finally seeing our area for what it is--a highly diverse but venerable part of Los Angeles that offers many cultural happenings and a true richness. Thank you for finally giving a clear picture of our area.
