Seven people suffered minor injuries when a butane tank exploded Thursday in a commercial building in Mission Hills, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

The tank in a commercial building, which houses about 20 businesses in the 15400 block of San Fernando Mission Boulevard near Sepulveda Boulevard, exploded about 7:15 p.m., a department spokesman said.

The victims suffered second- and third-degree burns but were able to walk from the second story to the ground floor of the two-story building, the spokesman said.
