CSUN Softball Team Honors Calcante
Beth Calcante, a freshman who made the All-Pacific Region team, was honored as the Cal State Northridge softball team’s outstanding offensive player at the team’s awards banquet Wednesday.
Calcante, from Newbury Park High, batted a team-high .345 and also led the Matadors with eight doubles, five triples, three home runs and 22 runs batted in.
Danielle Wood, a sophomore from Hart High, was recognized as the team’s top defensive player.
Denise Swank and Patti Pearson shared the Coaches’ Award and Swank and Wood shared recognition as the team’s top scholar-athlete.
