Traffic Resumes After Leaking Pipe Repaired
Traffic resumed on Victory Boulevard in Van Nuys on Monday after a leaking water pipe flooded the street, forcing motorists to be diverted for about seven hours Sunday, according to a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
The leak occurred about 9:30 a.m. Sunday at 14350 Victory when a seal came off a temporary pipe providing service while a permanent, eight-inch water main receives a new cement lining, spokeswoman Lucia Alvelais said.
The broken seal was repaired and the mud-coated street cleaned by 4:30 p.m. the same day, Alvelais said, while work on the main continued Monday.
About a quarter-mile between Tyrone Avenue and Van Nuys Boulevard was affected. Alvelais said the DWP did not calculate the amount of water lost because the leak was considered relatively minor.
