Pacoima Man Found Slain in Panorama City
A Pacoima factory worker was fatally shot in his car as he was double-parked on a Panorama City street, police said Monday.
The dead man was identified as Floyd Epps Jr., 24, Los Angeles police Detective James Vojtecky said. Epps, who was shot once in the upper torso, was pronounced dead at the scene Sunday night in the 8800 block of Willis Avenue, after police and paramedics investigated reports of a shooting.
Vojtecky said Monday that no one had been arrested and that police are still trying to determine the type of firearm used. He said detectives are searching for witnesses.
Vojtecky said the neighborhood where Epps was killed is known for drug sales and gang activity, but he noted that Police Department records do not list Epps as a gang member or a narcotics dealer.
