Delta Confirms Acquisition Talks: Delta Air Lines confirmed that it is talking with financially troubled Pan American World Airways about a possible acquisition. “From time to time, Delta has evaluated and discussed with other air carriers (and is currently evaluating and discussing with Pan Am) potential asset acquisitions in the airline business,” a statement released by the Atlanta-based carrier said. Last week, an unidentified airline official reported that Delta and Pan Am representatives met at Pan Am’s headquarters in New York to discuss a possible merger.
