Rail Union Reaches Tentative Accord: The second of 11 unions involved in contract talks with the nation’s major railroads has reached a tentative agreement with management, rail representatives said. The Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen joins the Transportation Communications International Union, which reached a tentative settlement Wednesday. A strike deadline has been set for April 17 by the unions, which represent about 200,000 workers. Santa Fe and Union Pacific are among the rail lines that would be affected by a strike.
