Diamond Bar : 2-Wheeled Traffic Control
Traffic scofflaws will face two-wheeled enforcement beginning this summer under a pilot program contracted between the city and the Sheriff’s Department.
The City Council on Tuesday approved a provision in its contract with the sheriff’s Walnut station to replace three sheriff’s patrol cars with three motorcycles, which City Manager Robert Van Nort said would help curb violations that have come with increasing traffic congestion.
San Dimas and Walnut, which also have contracts with the Walnut station, may also adopt the program, Sgt. Stephen Webb said. He said the sheriff’s office had set a July 1 start date.
“It has been proven that in a congested atmosphere our response time and ability to catch up with violators is enhanced with motorcycles,” Webb said.
