Erich Demetz, the head of the World Cup Committee of the International Ski Federation, said Lake Louise, Canada, would be dropped as a possible race site because Olympic champion Alberto Tomba of Italy was barred from competing in a super giant slalom there March 18 after a run-in with a female lift-line attendant during practice the day before.

Tomba argued with the attendant about hurrying the loading process and she fell. The resort manager said Tomba pushed the attendant, but Tomba said she fell on her own.

Tomba’s lift ticket was pulled, and thus he was unable to compete.
