COMMUNITY COLLEGE BASEBALL ROUNDUP : Rancho Santiago Beats Riverside in 10th Inning
Octavio Medina singled home Rene Arias in the bottom of the 10th inning to give Rancho Santiago a 9-8 victory over Riverside in an Orange Empire Conference game Saturday at Rancho Santiago College.
J.J. Thobe (2-0) pitched a perfect 10th inning for the victory.
Randy Curtis put Riverside ahead, 8-7, with a home run in the top of the ninth, but Rancho Santiago tied it in the bottom half when Raul Rodarte scored after Jeremy Sherman hit into a fielder’s choice.
Rob Reimers and Medina had two RBIs each for Rancho Santiago (23-4, 9-1 in conference play).
In other Orange Empire Conference baseball:
Orange Coast 11, Saddleback 4--OCC (15-10-1, 4-7) led, 6-4, after seven innings and then scored five runs in the eighth. Dan Redington went three for five with six RBIs, including a two-run homer and bases-loaded double in the eighth. Orange Coast’s Mike Cutler (4-1) pitched a complete game with five strikeouts and a walk. Brian Walker went two for three with two RBIs for host Saddleback (9-12, 3-7).
Fullerton 4, Golden West 0--Chris Johnson (4-1) pitched a four-hitter with nine strikeouts for host Fullerton (15-11, 5-6). Johnson also had two hits, and Sal Mancuso had two RBIs as Fullerton won its third in a row.
