THE SIDELINES : Colorado Team Ejects Motley
BOULDER, Colo. — Mike Motley, a projected starter next season at outside linebacker, has been kicked off the Colorado football team, Coach Bill McCartney said.
McCartney wouldn’t disclose Motley’s offense other than to say it was a violation of a team rule and not an unlawful act. He said only that the infraction occurred “recently.”
Motley, who redshirted last season because he didn’t want to spend his final season behind Alfred Williams and Kanavis McGhee, was given the team’s Champion (extra effort) Award at the Seniors Banquet in December.
“He would have been penciled in with the first team in the spring,” McCartney said.
McCartney said Motley will remain in school.
