Van Nuys Shooting Victim Identified
Police on Wednesday identified a man shot to death in his Van Nuys apartment, allegedly by a neighbor who police said also sexually assaulted and wounded the dead man’s female roommate.
Hoa Van Nguyen, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot wounds to the head and chest, Los Angeles Police Lt. Warren Knowles said.
His body was discovered at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday after a neighbor called police to report a domestic dispute at the building in the 14600 block of Calvert Street.
Police would not release the name of the 19-year-old woman, who was treated at an undisclosed hospital for two superficial gunshot wounds and released.
Police were still searching Wednesday for the suspected gunman, identified as Hung Van Vo, 36, who escaped in a vehicle that police said was stolen from a roommate.
Detectives said Vo and the victims were acquainted, but have not established a motive for the shootings.
