PREP ROUNDUP : Szekeres, Villa Park Beat No. 1 Anaheim
David Szekeres converted two second-half penalty shots to give Villa Park High School a 3-1 victory over top-ranked Anaheim in a nonleague soccer game Friday.
Ronald Lou scored to give Villa Park (8-0-2) a 1-0 halftime lead, but Alex Perez scored early in the second half to tie the score for Anaheim (11-1-1).
In Sunset League boys’ soccer:
Huntington Beach 1, Edison 0--Chris Wright scored in the 72nd minute for host Huntington Beach (4-3-4, 1-0) in the victory over Edison (8-5-1, 0-1).
In Empire League boys’ soccer:
El Dorado 7, Loara 0--Rodrigo Cid and Carlos Cedano each scored three goals for host El Dorado (7-6-1, 1-0).
Cypress 3, Katella 3--Armando Orizaba scored twice, and Jose Figueroa scored with 12 minutes left to tie the score for Katella (9-2-2, 0-0-1).
In nonleague girls’ soccer:
El Modena 2, Fullerton 1--Natalie Hubbartt scored in the 39th minute to tie the score at halftime and in the 58th minute to give host El Modena (4-5-1) the victory.
