Digest Aimed at Aiding Soviet Jews in U.S.
The Jewish Education Service of North America has published the “Digest of Soviet Jewish Acculturation Initiatives,” a resource aid of programs and materials for agencies, synagogues and other community groups involved in resettling Soviet Jews.
The digest helps those involved in integrating “New Americans” in the American Jewish community and educating U.S. Jews about Soviet Jews. It includes a study of services, existing policies, funding practices and program enrollment in communities heavily involved in resettlement outside the greater New York area.
The digest was compiled and edited by Dr. Leora Isaacs, the education service’s director of research, and Caren N. Levine, coordinator of educational services for the New York-based group.
