David Toufic Mizrahi; Editor Was Expert on Mideast
David Toufic Mizrahi, 64, editor and publisher of the New York-based newsletter MidEast Report who was frequently quoted in various publications after Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait on Aug. 2. Regarded as an authority on oil and Middle East politics, Mizrahi regularly appeared on network television news shows, including PBS’ “The MacNeil/Lehrer Newshour.” During the current crisis, he had been quoted by major newspapers and news magazines on the economic and political conditions in Iraq and Kuwait. Mizrahi was born in Beirut and earned a law degree at the Sorbonne in Paris. He moved to the United States in 1960 and worked as a foreign correspondent in New York and Washington for several Middle East newspapers. In 1967, Mizrahi founded his MidEast Report newsletter, which is published every two weeks. On Friday of complications of pneumonia and cancer in New York City.
